A wonderful journey comes to an end.

Two weeks ago, I finished school. On Friday, I had two of my final exams: Psychology and the first part of my English exam, where I had to write a Personal Response Text. The second part of the English exam, a reading comprehension, took place on June 16th. After that, I was officially done—no more exams, no more classes, and no more schoolwork. Summer break had finally started.

It felt strange but amazing to be free from the busy days of school and studying. The days before the finals were tough, filled with late-night studying and the stress of wanting to do well. I still remember walking back and forth, going over my notes, and testing myself on important topics.

Psychology was especially tricky because I had to really think hard to understand the theories and how to use them. But once I finished the exam, I felt such a big relief. For the English exams, the first part let me get creative, while the second part tested how well I could quickly understand and explain texts.

When I walked out of the exam room for the last time, it felt like a huge weight was lifted off me. But I also felt a little sad, knowing this chapter of my life—with all it’s ups and downs and friendships—was over. I looked at my classmates from different countries and saw that they all had different emotions. We smiled and said our goodbyes.

The timing couldn’t have been better. Sandra and my mom arrived just as summer break began, and we’re staying in Canada for three weeks. It’s been wonderful to have their company as I move from school life into this new phase of adventures. Spending time with three-fifth members of my family (the fifth is Raudur) has been so comforting. We’ve been sharing stories, laughing and just reconecting with each other.

Looking ahead, this summer is packed with exciting plans! First, We’ll go to the Airdrie Rodeo on June 29th. Then, we’ll travel to Nakusp, a beautiful place in British Columbia, to visit friends my parents met 17 years ago. After that, we’ll go camping for three nights near Waterton and try lots of new things. We’re not sure what we’ll do in the last week yet, but we know we’ll visit Long Acre Ranch, where Janice’s sister lives, and check out Irvines, a big western store.

We’re going home again on July 17th and will arrive in Zürich at July 18th.

Sadly I have to come back to Switzerland and rebegin the serious of my life and with that the new school I’m going to in August. But how did the saying go? “One door opens and an other one closes, you stay in my heart even when it starts to hurt” (Äs Toor geit uf und äs anders geit zue, blibsch I mim härtz sogar no denn wen afaht weh z tue (Für immer uf di vo Padänt Ochsner))

Wit that last pharagraph I am going to say THANK YOU for all your support and I will hopefully see you soon when I’m back in Brienz. Meenwhile I will enjoy the rest of my stay here in Canmore.

In Love,

Lisa
